Ode to the Carry-on

Here they come, the teenagers headed for their schools and dormitories, rolling their carry-ons behind them

Yeshivos and schools are open again, and here they come, the teenagers headed for their schools and dormitories, rolling their carry-ons behind them.

Your carry-on works on any ground,

Rough or smooth, square or round

Many forks are in the road

Patience makes light the load

carry on

Duties and obligations

In daily correlations,

Failure and success

But progress, more or less —

For the sun’s not always bright

carry on

Tho your friend’s not always loyal

Just trust in Him Who’s royal

carry on

The obligations are depressing

But all in all they form a blessing

carry on

G-d above does care

He is always there,

In daytime and at night

When things don’t look so bright

Just trust in Him Who’s royal

carry on

If you don’t get the respect

That you thought you could expect

carry on

Disappointment’s not your style,

Surprise them with your smile

carry on

G-d’s still there

He’s everywhere

Go through your day without a care

carry on

This I do confess,

Not every day will find success

but carry on

Cast your eyes to look above,

And trust in Him, the One you love

and carry on

For that’s the true address

And He will always bless.

Your carry-on works on any ground,

Rough or smooth, square or round.

So if things don’t always seem so great

Just look around and contemplate

Your faithful carry-on

and carry on.

If now our Land is filled with sadness,

Implore the L-rd to send us gladness,

For He's our Guide

Right by our side, so...

carry on.
