Former Connecticut senator Joseph Lieberman helped Yeshiva K’tana of Waterbury get off the ground

AT the gala dinner of the American Federation for Children (AFC) — an organization that advocates for school choice — Rabbi Ari Weisenfeld, director of the Connecticut office of Agudath Israel and associate director of state relations, bumped into former Connecticut senator Joseph Lieberman. Rabbi Weisenfeld updated the senator on Yeshiva K’tana of Waterbury’s enrollment, a school that the senator helped get off the ground. Upon hearing that the yeshivah’s enrollment has swelled to nearly 800 students, the one-time vice presidential nominee expressed both his pleasure — and his amazement.
