Rochel Imeinu was prepared to give up being the biological mother of the majority of the Shevatim in exchange for the right to be the spiritual mother of Klal Yisrael. It was at this pivotal moment that the roles of the two mothers were divided; in a real sense, this is when “Mama Rochel” was born.
