Honey-Garlic Gefilte Fish
| October 28, 2020Honey-Garlic Gefilte Fish
This is a great recipe by Rivky Kleiman that’s in The Best of Family Table. It’s so easy and delicious that it’s become part of our regular rotation. I adapted it slightly to make it work for one loaf of gefilte fish, since the original called for two.
- 1 loaf gefilte fish, partly defrosted
- 2 tsp olive oil
- 1⁄2 medium Vidalia onion, diced
- 2–3 cloves garlic, crushed
- 5 Tbsp honey (or less)
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Heat oil in a small frying pan. Add the onion and sauté until golden, about 10 minutes. Add garlic and honey and bring to a boil.
Unwrap gefilte fish and place in a greased loaf pan. Pour half the honey-garlic sauce on top. Freeze the rest in a small container for another week. Cover and bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes (or longer, depending on how frozen your gefilte fish loaf is).
