Lone Song

“Rabbi, let’s learn upstairs — and we’ll make our own noise!”

A group of balabatim from Plano, Texas visiting Lakewood with their rav, Rabbi Nesanya Zakon, was eager to experience the Torah atmosphere in Beth Medrash Govoha. When they arrived in BMG for an afternoon seder, Rabbi Moishe Katz of Torah Links, who was hosting the group, wasn’t sure where they would rather learn.

He told them they could learn in the beis medrash, with the booming noise reverberating throughout, or in a smaller, quieter chaburah room upstairs, where they’d be able to concentrate more intently. As quoted above, the group found a happy medium.
