Back in Time
Not that long ago homemakers were still throwing their trash out their windows and into the streets which attracted rats and other animals. As a result diseases and contamination were common.
Eventually people realized they needed a system for getting rid of their garbage. They tried burying the garbage burning it or feeding it to animals. By the early 1920s most developed countries had developed a system for safe efficient garbage removal. Open-topped trucks were quickly replaced by covered trucks (no one could handle the smell). Over the years garbage trucks added more features until they became the trucks we recognize today.
