“It’s been a longtime dream of mine to release a pure and uncomplicated album that resonates with that magical acoustic vibe”

DOVID LOWY’s new album, ACOUSTIC REFLECTIONS, is a treat for acoustic guitar fans and anyone in search of fresh, easy-listening Jewish music. “I have played  guitar for years, and my songs are mostly composed on guitar,” he explains. “It’s been a longtime dream of mine to release a pure and uncomplicated album that resonates with that magical acoustic vibe.” Lowy began to compile songs for Reflections during Israel’s first Covid lockdown.

He narrowed down his original picks and worked on forming medleys in four themes — “Lowy classics,” “Pop,” “Israeli,” and “Throwback” — and then writing the arrangements for guitar. Musician Avi Singolda brought along his entire collection of 14 different guitars to the studio so they could get the optimum sound for each track.

Guest artists Ari Goldwag and Aryeh Kunstler joined the project, recording their vocals in their own studios, Pesach Woznica came to Dovid Lowy’s home studio, and Dovid’s own son, bar mitzvah bochur Shlomo Lowy, sings with him too. Another slot was filled by Lowy reaching out on social media for entries to a song contest, with the winner to be featured on the album. Winner Yosef Kugler joins in two songs in the oldies “Throwback” medley. Yitzy Berry, an old friend, assisted on some of the arrangements and mixing too, giving the final product a polish and wide appeal.
