Sacred Space: A Story and a Brachah

"...then all the fundraising and toil was worth it"

The revered mashgiach, Rav Don Segal, had been a maggid shiur in several fledgling yeshivos in decades past and over the years witnessed the rise of many a beis medrash, and so it was especially meaningful to make an excursion from his Jerusalem home last week to visit the new building of Bnei Brak’s Beis Medrash Elyon. As he looked on with pleasure at the bochurim learning, the mashgiach recalled a comment that Rav Yechezkel Abramsky had made upon visiting the new building of the Slabodka yeshivah in the early 1950s.

“If one bochur sitting in this expansive new beis medrash says a better svara because of the extra space, then all the fundraising and toil was worth it,” Rav Abramsky had commented.

With that story and brachah, the mashgiach concluded his shmuess, and left the bochurim to their learning.
