How many shopping bags have you carried from the cart to your car in a single shopping trip? Ten? Fifteen? (Times a million before Pesach!) How many trips did that take you?Nowadays we might shop ’til we drop but up until the 1930s people could only shop until they couldn’t carry any more. In fact it was a problem for storeowners. Grocery store owner Sylvan Goldman for instance supplied a small basket for the shoppers in his grocery stores for them to carry as they shopped. Once the basket got too heavy however his shoppers headed to the checkout. How could he get them to stay longer and spend more? Plus
