Overview of Yom Tov: Pesach
| April 13, 2011The word Pesach is also a combination of two words: peh (mouth) and sach (talk). Throughout the year when we are full of chometz — puffed up with pride and vanity — we are instructed to live by the dictum “Speak little; do much.” But on Pesach after we have done a thorough bedikas chometz we are told “Whoever relates more about Yetziyas Mitzrayim is worthy of praise.” This is the one time of year when we are actually encouraged to talk! It is a big mitzvah to recount the enormous nissim we merited and sing praises and thanks to Hashem.
