On the Job: Neurologist
| July 18, 2012
What inspired you to become a neurologist?
I was always interested in the brain and how it works. I also liked figuring out what motivates a person so neurology was the perfect choice for me. I studied at theAlbertEinsteinCollegeinNew Yorkand once I finished my studies internship and residency (12 years in all) I began to work in theBrookdaleHospitalinBrooklyn. I worked there for 15 years before I made aliyah.
What made you move to Israel?
Very simple: I wanted to help Jews. Once I treated a 90-year-old Yemenite man. Before he left he called me to stand next to him put his hand on my head and gave me a very moving brachah — yevorechecha Hashem v’yishmereicha. None of my patients inAmerica ever did that!
