That’s Grand
Let’s start with pianos — one of the most popular instruments to play and the hardest to build. The world-famous Steinway piano for example has over 12000 parts per instrument. It takes nearly an entire year to make one piano!
Did you know that the piano belongs to both the “string” and “percussion” families? When we strike the piano keys those keys are connected to strings — 220 to 240 of them!
A grand piano is the largest kind of piano. They range from about four feet to nine feet long. Full-sized grand pianos are used in concert halls because they give the best tone or quality of sound.
