Junior Tales: By Royal Command

Pinchas’s favorite subject at school was history. While his classmates listened to the history teacher and then ran out to play Pinchas always stayed to hear more. Even when he knew as much as the teacher he searched encyclopedias for more information. That’s how he discovered that a law passed byEngland’sKingEdward I in 1290 (over 700 years ago!) had never been officially canceled. Passed onTishahB’Av that year the law banned all Jews from living in England which then included Ireland as well as England Scotland and Wales. Any Jew who didn’t leave by the given date would be executed. Of course they all left.
