"I have the most amazing idea for our Navi project!” Kayla exclaimed at lunch time.
“Let’s hear” Bina said and she and Leah turned to listen.
“We’ll dress up like Dovid Hamelech and act out a scene from his life” Kayla said. “One of us can be Dovid one of us Michal and one of us can be a newspaper reporter. What do you think?”
“Interesting” Bina said thoughtfully. “But I was thinking—”
“And” Kayla interrupted “we can have them speak in rhyme I already made up some of the verses! And the store around the corner sells great costumes too so we can buy stuff from there.”
“I can take care of—” Leah tried.
“It’s so much fun to work together!” Kayla enthused. “How about if we meet tonight at my house and really get it all planned out?”
Bina and Leah snuck a peek at each other and rolled their eyes. But Kayla was in her own world and didn’t notice.
“See you later” Kayla called to Bina and Leah when school ended. Slipping into her down coat Kayla pulled her blue woolen hat snugly over her ears. It was a special hat her Bubby had knitted complete with a furry pompom on top. Bubby must have woven in something special when she made it for her; whenever she wore it she felt snug and comfy.
“Hi Ma” Kayla greeted her mother when she pulled up.
“Hi Kayla” her mother replied cheerfully. “How was your day?”
“Amazing” Kayla said. “I’m doing a Navi project together with Bina and Leah. We’re going to get costumes and everything. Would you mind stopping at the costume store on our way home so I can pick out some things?”
“I don’t mind” Mommy answered “but if this is a group project shouldn’t you all go together so everyone can choose what they like?”
“No Leah and Bina won’t mind! They’ll love what I choose. Please Ma?”
Mommy hesitated. “Okay” she said finally “if you’re sure.”
