It Will Stand Again
| April 7, 2021A century later, Reb Shayele’s beis medrash will stand again on precisely the same location
Last year, the court and courtyard of Reb Shayele in Kerestir, Hungary, sat nearly desolate and silent on the 3rd of Iyar. This year on Reb Yeshaya ben Moshe’s yahrtzeit, as Yidden so deeply connected to the tzaddik and his resting place return, it will be with a renewed sense of excitement.
After years of refusing to consider offers, the owners of the piece of land adjoining the present beis medrash, the plot where Reb Shayele’s beis medrash actually stood, finally sold it. One hundred years ago, following a fire in Kerestir, Reb Shayele rebuilt his shul, opening it to the masses. Now, a century later, it will stand again on precisely the same location it did then, bringing new potency to the tefillos of thousands of Yidden who pray for salvation in the merit of this tzaddik, who, with his incredible, expansive hospitality and individual care, so worried for both the ruchniyus and gashmiyus of every Yid.
