Gift on the Mountain

I
pull off the highway into the scenic overlook and turn off the engine. In the distance is the uncluttered view of farmland and theAdirondack Mountains. Slightly blurred by an early morning mist the view suffuses my brain with quiet creating mental and emotional space.
Each summer I detach myself from a crammed routine for 12 days. Together with other dedicated teachers I devote this time to sharing Torah with a group of young brave secular women who come to this humble retreat near theHudson River. I go to be inspired by the holy Jews who run the program people who reach out to share the richness of our heritage with their less-informed Jewish sisters solely for the sake of Heaven. There are few things I envy but their otherworldly bank accounts is one of them…
