Adults and kids from all over the world are mesmerized and captivated by the circus. So why not incorporate this theme into your child’s birthday party? Enjoy this amazing circus-themed upsheren party, bursting with bright colors, yummy food, and decor!
I chose this theme specifically for Aryeh’s upsheren because it goes with his name, Aryeh, a lion. I incorporated the alef-beis and merged the two themes. Hence, an alef-beis circus.
Circus Sign
No upsheren party is complete without a customized sign bearing the birthday boy’s name! We love this sign, which was used as part of the circus decorations, along with the circus booth and circus-themed food cards.
Bring on the Animals
It’s not a party without lions and tigers and bears, right? Bring the circus to life at the kids' table with these fun animal figures. Attach some alef-beis flashcards for an interactive activity for the kids.
Red, White, and Gray
Red and white stripes are classic circus decor. These chic paper plates and the gray and white plastic cutlery add the perfect touch while being practical and
kid friendly.
Looks Like Popcorn!
The circus centerpieces at the adult tables were a great DIY project. I found the plastic popcorn buckets at a local dollar store and arranged fresh hydrangeas inside to mimic the look of popcorn.
Don’t Forget the Food!
At a busy carnival, you’ll need simple and easy foods that can be eaten quickly or carried along as the kids play games. This concession stand, decked out in balloons in all the right shades and colors, is a perfect piece to display a carnival-inspired food buffet. For the kids’ pekalach, I used a coordinating colored paper bag and added some candy and treats for little guests to take home. The bags are topped with a custom laser-cut label, cut out in the shape of a lion.
You can use any sugar cookie recipe to make these carnival cookies.
The secret is in the decorations!
