He continued on his way swinging the large beis medrash doors open.

Quick as rival forces pounce on a fresh pashkevil in a Meah Shearim ideological battle talmidim advanced to remove the paper — not an act of protest but of devotion.

Whoever was the lucky winner of the “mareh mekomos sweepstakes” that week would take the scrap of paper to the nearby office and make a photocopy. The photocopied mareh mekomos would be hung on the beis medrash door and the resourceful talmid had himself a little souvenir a paper with the Rosh Yeshivah’s handwriting.
