Killer Heat Waves Hot weather isn’t only uncomfortable it can be dangerous. A heat wave inIndia earlier this year killed more than 1 100 people in less than a week. The poor — especially beggars and the homeless — suffered the most. As for air conditioning only two-thirds ofIndia’s 1.2 billion people even have electricity. It wasn’t only people who suffered from the terrible heat.
