What happens on Lag B’omer where you live? Shikma: All the roads are closed. There are lots of police everywhere keeping control. Lots of buses lots of people lots of noise and music — all night! Everything is dirty afterward from all the garbage. Nachman: We make a huge bonfire and bake potatoes in it! Then we go to Ohr Haganuz a yishuv close by. They make an enormous bonfire there too; it’s 24 feet high! They make a doll that looks like Hitler ym”s and burn it in the bonfire. And they hang up the letters that spell the yishuv which all light up in the fire.
