What is Wool? Wool comes from sheep right? Right — but only sometimes. Wool is actually a fiber made from the hairs of animals that include sheep — but also goats rabbits and even llamas. But as sheep were one of the first animals domesticated by man thousands of years ago probably in Asia Minor (around what is now Turkey) sheep’s wool was — and still is — by far the most widely used. Domesticated means an animal is trained to need and accept the care of a human. As people spread across the globe they took sheep with them.
