It’s Now or Never

“Come on sleepy head rise and shine.” Mommy’s cheerful greeting burrowed under her quilt and chased away the cobwebs of sleepiness. With snail-like slowness Tova got up and started getting herself ready. “Ouch!” she yelped stubbing her toe as she climbed down from her bunk bed. I knew today was the worst day. It’s starting already. She rubbed her sore toe. By the time Chani and Dini were finished with the bathroom Tova had to rush. Racing out the door without eating breakfast Tova ignored the angry rumbles from her empty stomach. She looked all around but her good friend Miriam was nowhere in sight. I guess I missed her Tova realized feeling lonely as she huffed the rest of the way by herself. Sliding into her seat just as the last bell rang Tova breathed a sigh of relief. But her relief was short lived. My lunch! She realized with dismay. I forgot my lunch! To read the rest of this story please buy this issue of Mishpacha or sign up for a weekly subscription
