Until 120

FischelWeiss was overweight stressed out and trying to fight away the slow tick of time. Born with a congenital heart problem Weiss 41 had also had a bout with cancer in 2003 so he knew that he had to fundamentally overhaul his lifestyle and habits. As Divine Providence would have it Weiss’s family physician Dr.BarryDinner is also an anti-aging specialist.Dr.Dinner not only put him on a diet and warned him against his high-tension lifestyle but also supplied him with hormone supplements and showed him that a healthy regimen could extend his life. “I wasn’t taking care of myself ” Weiss says “but I had to make sure I was in tip-top shape so I could prevent whatever issues I was likely to have.” Through blood tests he found out that his estrogen levels were higher than normal. “That’s a female hormone and a man shouldn’t have as much as I had. I would never have found that out from another doctor because they never would have checked for it.”Dr.Dinner is certified by the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) as an anti-aging practitioner currently the only one in Israel.Dr.Dinner said that it was crucial to look back at the “pathways” and “root sources” ofMr.Weiss’s issues to find the appropriate remedy. “If you’d look atMr.Weiss’s blood work now you’d say he’s a completely different person. I don’t know if he even knows how much he’s been helped but I see it. Of course at the end of the day it’s all in Hashem’s Hands.”  The last two decades have witnessed the emergence of a new field of medicine that seeks to prevent or reverse the effects of aging from the inside: anti-aging medicine. The field’s 26 000 practitioners from over 120 countries aim to revolutionize the public’s mindset about medical care by redefining prevention. Conventional medical wisdom encourages use of general principles of healthy living that promote longevity such as a good diet exercise and effective stress management. Periodic screening to detect the early signs of the onset of various diseases such as cancer heart disease and osteoporosis is also encouraged. But beyond the traditional approaches A4M has developed a new philosophy. People should not only strive to catch disease in its early stages they should try to prevent them from developing in the first place. The systems of the body weaken as we age but comprehensive testing can tell us which systems are declining faster so that we can restore those systems to a more youthful state.
