Curious Jr.: Surprise — It’s a Hit!

Did you ever put out something that surprised you by becoming a big hit? Yaakov Friedlander manager of Kosher Innovations: The KosherLamp really took its inventors by surprise when it became a token Shabbos item in Jewish homes across the globe. It certainly didn’t start out with major marketing aspirations; in fact it began as a simple favor between husband and wife. The company opened with two owners. One of them Rabbi Veffer was looking to help his wife find a way to read in bed on Shabbos after the meal but keeping the light on was problematic since it meant that Mrs. Veffer would have a hard time sleeping afterwards. So he approached his friend Moshe Orzech who was in the lamp business. The two put their heads together and poof! The KosherLamp was born.
