The Power of Pyramids

Trick question: What shape is a pyramid? A pyramid of course! But actually it’s not quite that simple. Did you know some pyramids are built on rectangular and oval bases?

The exact definition of a pyramid is a solid figure with a polygonal-shaped base and triangular sides that meet at a common point. A polygon is a closed plane figure with three or more sides. Triangles rectangles and octagons are all examples of polygons. So you can have pentagonal (five-sided) pyramids and hexagonal (six-sided) pyramids.
