A staycation. Going-away-vacations are fun but so exhausting and expensive. If you stay at home and check out the sites in your city you can always return to your own bed at night (plus no bed-bugs!)

We stay at home and make backyard barbecues varying the menu and fun activities each day. My children enjoy singing around the barbecue and sometimes we invite friends or family to join.

Go to the closest body of water – a lake the ocean or a stream. You can have a picnic. If it’s windy out - fly a kit. Play catch ... There’s something about activities near a beautiful lake/sea which enhances the whole outing and evokes the most special memories later on.
