“Adina!” Penina called as she plopped into the seat near mine. “Congratulations you finally did it.”

“Ha-ha” I said. “This is the three-millionth time I stained my shirt this year.”

“I know silly” Penina said. “But I’m not talking about your shirt even though that probably is your biggest stain ever. I’m talking about the calendar.”

“Calendar?

“Uh-huh” Penina said. “The one hanging in our classroom which you are supposed to put the date on but never remember to. You finally did it.”

I squeezed my eyes shut trying to remember what Penina was talking about but all I saw were huge chocolate bars skittering around so I opened my eyes and said “Dunno what you’re talking about.”

“Really?” Penina said. “That’s strange because the date is on and it was also on yesterday.”
