On the Right Derech

This week I was reviewing Mishnayos with Tatty when Mr. Biderman and Mr. Shafran came to talk to Tatty about some shul things. Mr. Biderman said “The boys make so much noise jumping up and down the stairs; we never behaved like this when we were kids eh Mechel?”

Noise? I thought. What kind of noise?? But I didn’t say a word. Not a peep; it wasn’t my place to say anything.

When they left Tatty said “Dovi I’m really proud of you; you didn’t say a word! Both of these wonderful men have grown up children already so they don’t have too much patience for ‘boys’ noise’…. But it could very well be that they were just as lively when they were young!”
