Interview: Camp Waitress
| August 18, 2010
MJ: Is a camp waitress like a waitress in a restaurant?
SL RP: They do bring you food like in a restaurant — and the food tastes as good as in a restaurant. But otherwise a camp waitress’s job is different: they don’t take orders like in a restaurant but they do bring you free doubles and triples. And bunks can cheer for their waitress in camp which you can’t do in a restaurant!
MJ: That’s true! So each bunk has its own waitress?
SL RP: Yep! Overall there are 21 bunks (several bunks for each age) plus tables for staff and separate dining rooms for teen campers and senior staff. The bunk really gets to know their waitress and has fun making up funny songs and nice compliments to cheer for her when she comes in with the food. The waitress also gets to know the bunk — all the kids’ names and what they like and don’t like to eat.
