Taking It to the End

siyum

Song of Songs
At 7:04 pm according the National Weather Bureau
the rain falling over East Rutherford New Jersey stopped.
It had been the conversation du jour — the “what ifs” and “how comes” and “I-told-you-sos ” and at the end  it was a non-story. Later on in the evening during those glorious moments just after the hadran when an abundance of genuine Jewish joy seemed to envelop the stadium time stopped as well. Up above a gorgeous inky blue sky even a refreshing breeze. Lecha Shamayim... Down below tens of thousands of Yidden joining hands and hearts — fathers and sons chavrusos and maggidei shiur and so many others celebrating with the Torah itself — responded to the sign of Divine grace telling the Lord of  the Heavens that Af eretz Lach.
In those moments a throbbing pulsing crowd refusing to let go of the answer the truth  the taste of the joy that will yet be.
Bodies rose spun hands waving and feet stamping out a message: Earlier this year tens of thousands of Yidden gathered to confront a common enemy the insidious and rapidly- growing danger posed by technology a necessary and monumental gathering. Forty
thousand people wondered how to face the challenges of 2012 a new world a scary world; we reassured each other sought comfort from the fact that so many other soldiers are fighting the good fight.
All over there are conventions conferences and committees dealing with a plethora of issues and crises facing daunting obstacles seeking a path through confusion and darkness.
Last week at the Siyum we rose with a new resolve emboldened and enthused by the gathering and injected with the chiyus of Torah itself. And together like so many faithful sheep sang out the truest answer pounding out a euphoric tefillah a promise an
assurance and a plea:
Va’anachnu amcha...amcha v’tzonecha....ha’chafeitzim la’asos retzonecha...
