Every year on the Seder night Niflaot Nissim Levy removes a Haggadah from its hiding place his hands shaking with emotion. Carefully so that the brittle paper doesn’t crack he turns the pages and recites the words “Atah bnei chorin — Now we are free men ” thanking Hashem for all the good He has done for him.

When Niflaot Nissim reads the words “If Hashem had not taken us out of Mitzrayim we and our children and our children’s children would still be slaves to Pharaoh in Mitzrayim” he thinks not only about the Yetzias Mitzrayim that the entire Jewish Nation experienced but also about his own personal redemption — his escape from Syria 12 years ago.
