Why do people forget to say “thank you”?
Rav Yitzchok Hutner ztz”l explained that in Hebrew the word (and therefore the idea) for “thank” has the same root as the word “admit.” When we say “thank you” to Hashem in our tefillos we “admit” that we are receiving something that we really do not deserve and we thank Him.
However nobody wants to feel that way towards another person so we “conveniently” forget to say “thank you.”
