Curious Collections

Most people just come away from a meal with the bill but some just add items to their collection! Spoons cups plates — you name it someone collects it! Sucrologists (can you believe there’s even a word for them?!) actually collect those individual sugar packets from restaurants airlines hotels and wherever they can find them. They come in every language color and size and some even have special pictures on them such as the highly collectible US Presidents set. Some collectors have over 10 000 packets!

A less tasty collection is at the Museum of Burnt Food. This strange collection documents less-than-successful culinary attempts in photographs. The original was apple cider that burnt to a cinder and the collection now has photos of such artistic disasters as blue macaroni a black rock-like bagel and reaaaally black green beans …!

Last but not least how about chocolate wrappers? Martin Mihal of Czechoslovakia began collecting chocolate wrappers in 1996 and today he has an amazing 38 579 wrappers from all over the world including far-off countries like Oman and Uzbekistan. All I can say is shame the wrappers don’t still have the chocolate in them!
