Greeks and Romans built houses city-council buildings theaters and public meeting places. One of the most notable features of their buildings are columns — a pillar or post that stands straight and tall. Greek columns have three main types: Doric Ionic and Corinthian each one fancier than the next.

The Parthenon is almost all made up of columns! Romans are famous for using arches and domes to make their buildings look grand. They are also famous for building aqueducts to help water flow throughout the city. Roman architects built this one in Spain. You can see that even while building aqueducts they used rounded shapes.
