Dear Diary
This is the first time I am writing to you. My name is Chani and I have a lot of brothers and sisters bli ayin hara. We don’t always get along and we sometimes fight but we love each other and always make up in the end. I live in Yerushalayim and I am going into fifth grade G-d willing. My mother just told me she is sending me to Dovrot this year for English (that means my English class is for English speakers). I’m excited about that because I love to read. Right now I mainly read books in Hebrew but I’ve taught myself how to read English and am excited to learn more. I hope writing in this diary will help improve my English skills.

Anyway I have something called a radial clubbed hand. That means the radius (the bone from the elbow to the wrist on the side of my thumb) isn’t as long as the ulna the bone on the other side. My radius is clubbed. Therefore I didn’t have a thumb on my right hand. I had four operations so far (the first when I was only six months old) and will probably have at least one more when I get older.
One of the main operations was when the doctor made my pointer finger into a thumb. I now have four fingers on my right hand instead of five.
