Jr. Tales: The Great Cheesecake Caper
| June 8, 2016
“Smells delicious Ma ” Miri said inhaling deeply. She dropped her schoolbooks on the table. Mrs. Stein smiled. “I’ve been experimenting with some new cheesecake recipes all day.” Miri eyed the luscious cheesecakes cooling on the counter. “They all look gorgeous.” “How about sampling them?” Miri’s eyes lit up. “Them? Aren’t these for Yom Tov?” Her mother shook her head. “These are just samplers to see which one tastes best.” The front door opened. “Yum!” Lazer shouted. “Something smells good ” Mr. Stein said coming into the kitchen with Lazer. His wife pointed to the cheesecakes. “The shul is having their annual Shavuos kiddush and a few women were asked to bake a cheesecake. I need everyone to taste these and decide which one is best.” Mr. Stein rubbed his hands together.
“My pleasure.” Mrs. Stein brought plates and forks and sliced a wedge from each cake. “Now be honest” she said watching intently as they each took a bite. Mr. Stein licked his lips. “Well cake number one is great.” Miri nodded in agreement. “It’s heavenly!” Mrs. Stein looked at her son. “Great heavenly and delicious ” he said. “I guess that means you like it ” his mother laughed.
“Okay now for cake number two.” Everyone was more than happy to comply. Cake by cake they tasted each one. It was unanimous. The double-chocolate caramel cookie-crunch cheesecake was the winner. “Perfect!” Mrs. Stein exclaimed. She couldn’t wait to see the expressions on everyone’s faces in shul when they tasted her cheesecake.
