Not so Knotty — Knitting Knowledge

What Is Knitting? It’s all in the word actually. The word “knitting” comes from the Old English “cnyttan ” to knot. And quite simply knotting is what knitting is — joining together a continuous series of knots made by pulling yarn through the stitches on the needle. As each row of knitting is finished the stitches are transferred to the other needle and the next row is begun (except if you have a circular needle where you just keep on knitting and knitting and knitting…). As you’ll see there are all kinds of knitting depending on what needles yarn and type of stitch you choose so you can create an infinite variety of knitted items from bunnies to blankets!
