Jr. Tales: Do Weeds Get Your Goat?

Harav Boruch Povarsky of Ponevez Yeshiva gives a shuir on the weekly Torah portion.

"H“Hey Gavi how would you like to see something super fun and exciting?” Uncle Yissi’s rich voice boomed in Gavi’s ear and Gavi grinned into the receiver.

“Sure” Gavi replied his heart lifting at the idea of an ordinary Sunday becoming extraordinary. You just never know what Uncle Yissi has in store he mused remembering the time he’d shown up at their door before Pesach camels in tow to give them free rides around the block.

 

“See you Ma! I’m off to Uncle Yissi’s” Gavi called rushing to get his bike.

“Have fun” was her reply and she smiled curious about what her brother had up his sleeve this time.

Putting on a burst of speed Gavi arrived at his uncle’s house in five minutes.

A new record he thought proudly. Not bad.

“I have two friends I want you to meet” Uncle Yiss began leading Gavi to the back yard.

Baaaa…

“Who— what—

Before Gavi could finish his question two Pygmy goats bounded toward them one chocolate colored the other white with black spots. Nuzzling against Gavi they bleated and swished their tails. Then as if they’d planned it they bent their heads and playfully nudged each other with their horns.

No buts about it Gavi mused. They’re goats all right. Leave it to Uncle Yiss.
