"On Shabbos, my father sings Zeidy’s tunes to the words of the zemiros"
We always listened to my grandfather’s songs in the car on the way to school. Even though it was a short trip, it was still worth starting the day in such a great way. On Shabbos, my father sings Zeidy’s tunes to the words of the zemiros, and we guess which one of Zeidy’s songs he’s using. For example, he uses the tune of “LECHU VONIM” for Mah Yedidus, “HAMALACH HAGOEL” to the words of Yom Shabboson, and “CHAMOL” for Kol Mekadeish.
