Choresh (Plowing)

Chapter 1, page 1 - 12

Zoreah (Planting)

Chapter 2, page 13 - 26
Sowing seeds, planting trees, bending a live tree branch into the ground, grafting a tree, or trimming a tree so it should bloom—all of these actions are examples of one Av [Zoreah]…His intention is to cause growth of a living plant. (Rambam, Shabbos, 7:3)

Kotzer (Harvesting)

Chapter 3, page 27 - 42
One who harvests wheat or lentils, or picks grapes, dates, olives or figs — all these are considered one Av Melachah…The intention is to uproot something from its source of growth. (Rambam, Shabbos, 7:4)

Meamer (Gathering)

Chapter 4, page 43 - 54
Me'amer means piling up harvested sheaves one on top of the other. An 'ameer' is a bundle of gathered wheat, barley, etc. (Rambam, Perush HaMishnayos, Shabbos, Perek 7)

Dosh (Threshing)

Chapter 5, page 55 - 74
Dosh means beating [the grain] by means of an animal [trampling it] or with a stick, in order to remove the grain from its stalk. (Meiri, Shabbos 73)

Zoreh (Winnowing)

Chapter 6, page 75 - 84
Zoreh means winnowing with a winnowing fork or with a loosely woven sieve in order to separate the grain from the chaff. (Meiri, Shabbos 73)

Borer (Selecting)

Chapter 7, page 85 - 102
"Borer means separating the waste from the food by hand. Pebbles and dust are examples of wastes." (Meiri, Shabbos 73)

Losh (Kneading)

Losh is the action of adding water, honey, goose fat, or any liquid that thickens and attaches a mixture. (Mishnah Berurah 321:50)

“Bishul means using fire or heat to prepare food for eating or to complete the formation of an object. (Shemirath Shabbath 1:1)
