“Want a tour around the Houses of Parliament?” a voice whispers in my ear. I turn around to see an English bobby (policeman) in a blue uniform and a baton in his left hand. It’s not that long ago since I took a tour of the Houses of Parliament: I vacationed in England two summers ago. But I’m sure that four hundred years ago, they looked very different.

A deep voice rings through the cellar. “His Royal Highness ordered that we search, and that’s what we’re going to do. If you had seen the letter yourselves, you would be searching more thoroughly.”

“What letter?” one of the men calls out.

Is this the tip-off that the policeman told me about?

“A letter sent to Lord Monteagle, warning him to keep away.”
